VL - 28 IS - 47 SE - Research DO - 10.25100/cdea.v28i47.72 UR - https://cuadernosdeadministracion.univalle.edu.co/index.php/cuadernos_de_administracion/article/view/72 SP - 37-52 AB - <p>The increased participation of women in the labor market has stimulated many studies incorporate a "gender perspective" in studying business. This paper has studied how gender affects the behavior of SMEs in the region of Murcia (Spain) based on different variables characterizing the company, using a sample of 600 SMEs. The results reveal that companies are run by women are mainly in the service sector, are smaller, have less developed technological position in their companies, and are mostly family-owned. These results are to show how the entry of women into the workplace even today is influenced by the role women played in society. Therefore, this paper aims to contribute to the principle of equal opportunities in SMEs leading to work in a cultural change within organizations that focuses on providing greater opportunities for development and growth to women.</p> ER -
