The objective of this article is to evaluate the implementation of the School Feeding Program (PAE) in Cali during the period 2016-2019, with an emphasis on its component of shaping healthy eating habits. Documentary analysis was used to study the evolution of the program at the national and local scales, as well as the influence of the new public management on it since it was established in 1936. In addition, stakeholder interviews were carried out which were analyzed and cross-checked with documents of the program using the thematic networks methodology in order to characterize the program in relation to the program's theory. The main results indicate that, although the program is efficient, its effectiveness and its relationship with school dropout and malnutrition is not being evaluated. Future research is encouraged to develop a set of indicators and a model to understand the relationship between the PAE and school dropout and malnutrition rates.
